HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT BAT

2019 FAIRBORN TOURNAMENT RULES

THANK YOU FOR PLAYING AND SUPPORTING THE GREAT GAME OF SOFTBALL

It is the responsibility of a team representative to report scores after each game at the site you are playing. FAIRFIELD PARK: At the concession stand table or tent behind diamonds 1,2,3 or at Diamonds 4-5 between fields at tent.Community Park: At the tent between the 2 diamonds or at the location where you checked in. ACTION SPORTS: At the tent behind diamond 8 or where you checked in. In some events, the umpires will have score cards for each game. HOWEVER, YOU MUST STILL REPORT THE SCORE.

Teams may roster bat or use the DP/Flex . If you choose to roster bat, and an injury occurs and the injured player is removed and cannot bat, it is an out in the batting order. A substitute cannot arrive after the injury and be used in that game for an injured player.  At no time when you use the DP/Flex can you have defensive players coming in and out of the game without it being a substitution.

The run rule is 12 after 3, 10 after 4 and 8 after 5 innings. TIE BREAKER IS HEAD TO HEAD IN A 2 TEAM TIE. IF THAT IS A TIE, THEN RUN DIFFERENTIAL, THEN RUNS ALLOWED WILL BE USED.

IF A 3 OR MORE TIE EXISTS, HEAD TO HEAD IS THROWN OUT AND RUNS ALLOWED WILL BE THE DECIDING FACTOR.

IF PLAYING AT ACTION SPORTS YOU CANNOT WEAR METAL CLEATS AT ANY TIME. YOU MUST WEAR MOLDED CLEATS OR GYM / TURF SHOES. THERE WILL BE A $5 PER CAR CHARGE TO ENTER. COOLERS ARE ALLOWED BUT NO GRILLS OR OUTSIDE FOOD IS PERMITTED. THE CHARGE IS A RULE OF ACTION SPORTS AND WE HAVE NO CONTROL OF THIS.

Time limit is 75 minutes in pool play and bracket play for 10u, 12u,14u,16u and 18u. Both are finish the inning. Games may be changed in time lengths when weather intercedes. The City of Fairborn maintains the diamonds. The city has the final say on whether the diamonds are playable or not.

Illegal bats. If an illegal bat is discovered during or directly after an at bat, the player is out and ejected or confined to the bench. If a team goes to 8 players because of this, it is an automatic forfeit and a score of 7-0 will be entered for the record.

Umpire mistreatment is not tolerated at our events. These men and women are amateur officials and are doing their best at any given time, just like anyone at any other job. We ask that coaches conduct themselves with that in mind. USA softball has rules in place for this and we follow them strictly. On the other hand, please report to us any umpire that behaves badly and we will address it immediately. I have suspended an umpire or two from our events and will not hesitate to do it again. If you as a coach do not want to address your supporters when they get out of hand, it will be the umpire, or if necessary, me, who handles it. I would suggest that your interceding may go a lot farther to rectify the situation because I have zero tolerance for umpire abuse. It demeans the game and other spectators who, quite frankly, do not want to hear it.

All USA/ASA rules apply with the above exceptions
